Privacy
Our code never logs your address; we only use it to answer your question.
- There are no accounts, no logins and no cookies.
- Our code never logs addresses or coordinates. We only log whether a lookup worked or failed, and the kind of error.
- To turn your address into a point, we send it to the US Census Bureau (Census Geocoder) and, if that fails, to Geocodio. Geocodio's self-serve service is hosted in Europe.
- To work out the answer, the point (latitude and longitude) goes to our server inside the request. It is not stored or logged.
- If you use “Use my location”, your browser asks your permission; the point is then handled as above.
- The address never goes in the URL. The share link puts it after “#”, a part of the URL that browsers never send to any server.
- Our hosting platform (Vercel) logs IP addresses and requested paths for a limited time set by Vercel; see Vercel's privacy notice.
- We use Vercel Web Analytics without cookies, and strip everything after “?” or “#” from every event.
- Maps load tiles from our tile server and fonts from protomaps.github.io; those servers see your IP address.
